CORK EUROPEAN CONFEDERACY The Cork EC obligations •     C.E.Liège is involved at many levels in the followings:   • Member of the Forestry Committee. Brussels.   • Participant in developing the Council of Europe directive on "Suitability for contact with foodstuffs".   • Participant in work for the European Centre for Standards on establishing norms for bottle necks.   • Development of an international mark for Cork. •     Research Initiatives:   • Preliminary and follow-up studies relating to the QUERCUS programme.   • Scientific study into the boiling of cork.   • Research into gaseous exchanges in bottled wines.   • Organoleptic studies into wines maturing in bottle.
